Kharkiv Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education-Ukrainian higher education institution of the 4th level of accreditation.Kharkiv Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education was founded November 11, 1923 and was called”The Ukrainian State Institute of Advanced Medical.”

In 1931,the Institute organized the department and graduate internships.
Since 1991, the Institute was subordinated to the Ministryof Health of Ukraine and renamed the Kharkiv Instituteof Postgraduate Medical.
According to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated March 15,1999, â„–379 Institute was renamed the Kharkiv Medical Academyof Postgraduate Education.

History

Kharkov Institute of Advanced Medical was founded by the Order of the People’s Commissariat of Health (NKOZ) from Ukraine 10.11.1923r. Training Institute began operation January 1, 1924. with comprehensive training of 24 rural district doctors, course duration was 3 months initially, then 4, and later moved to institute the principle of differentiated training of doctors for up to 6 months.

In parallel, the Institute held a permanent job with the preparation of teaching personnel.The first form of training was a two-year internship period of study, introduced NKOZ Ukraine in 1928.The first issue consisted of 84 medical interns.In order to improve the training of interns special order NKOZ Ukraine organizational guidance interns were assigned to the Ukrainian Central Institute for Advanced Training.Internship lasted until 1938, played a positive role in training professionals.A second form of scientific and teaching staff became postgraduate clinical residency and implemented NKOZ Ukraine in 1931.Organizational guidance was again assigned to the Ukrainian Central Institute for Advanced Training.During the Great Patriotic War, the institute was evacuated to the rear and worked retraining doctors for hospitals and units.Prior to the 50th anniversary (1973), the institution operated 40 departments and 2 courses.In the second half of the 70s (Rector prof. Hvysyuk MI) significantly improved physical infrastructure of the institute.Since 1977.institute was established in the Department of nayprioritetnishyh 24 subjects for the first time in the Soviet Union (Department of Traumatology and vertebrology, neonatology, Addiction, etc.).since 1991 institute subordinated to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and renamed the Kharkiv Institute of Advanced Training of Physicians, and in 1999 – the Kharkov Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education.The Academy operates 64 department, which merged into 5departments: therapeutic, surgical, pediatric, medical-care and the first in Ukraine Department of General Practice Family Medicine.Curriculum and training program for professionals with specialty “general practice – family medicine” includes 21 specialty.Over the years, the faculty has been trained for 30 cyclesfor medical students of 1200, including – in Kharkiv and Kharkiv region 950.From 2000 to 8 cycles for nurses in general practice – family medicine were trained about 200 nurses.Academy participates in the implementation of family medicine in public health practice in Ukraine.Since 2001 is teaching and research laboratory of family medicine.Laboratory participated actively in drafting documents of the 1st Congress of Family Physicians for the organization of institutions of family medicine.With the participation of experts KhMAPE in the Kharkiv region in 2001 opened 104 outpatient family doctor.For more than 750 cycles of thematic advanced training, specialization, pre-certification every year at the Academy has about 15 thousand doctors.In April 2000, the Academy received a license to provide educational services related to education level qualifications to retrain physicians with specialty “Management organizations in health care. “In 2002, the Academy received from DAK Ukraine license to provide educational services related to obtaining higher education at the level of qualification requirements for associate’s degree, bachelor’s degree, and their retraining.By order of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine in the structure of the Academy in 2002 opened a medical college.Much work has been carried out of the Academy for the educational process on the basis of the latest achievements of science teaching, the introduction of intensive methods and teaching aids.During recent years HMAPO first time in Ukraine and has developed introduced to the work of the criteria for evaluating the quality of teachers, which include four areas: educational and pedagogical work, research work, clinical work, as well as financial and economic.In each direction vypratsovana enough indicators that allow to objectively assess at the Department of the Academy.KhMAPE, with all the technical and pedagogical possibilities for developing a network of distance learning, introducing him to the faculty, “Health Care Management”.The course includes didactic, methodological and information and reference materials from the discipline, as well as software that allows you to use them for self-control knowledge.Distance learning allows you to change the contents, methods andforms of teaching.During the last years Academy by order of Ministry of Health of Ukraine prepared and approved by the Coordination Council of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine 10 internship programs, 22 programs of specialization, 55 pre-certification programs and computer tests for pre-certification.significant contribution in the development of methodological work done chairs that had been ordered by the Ministry of Health Ukraine by supporting – 26 departments, 31 specialty.A board supporting departments.Due to organizational initiatives of these groups improved coordination and standardization of teaching process related departments in different universities of the country., for improvement of methodological work was renewed activity seminars head teachers, a questionnaire them.Offers teachers to improve the quality of teaching further discussed and approved at the training-methodical council and Academic Council of the Academy.The Academy operates “young school teacher,” which is discussed at seminars and methods of education system in the world, legal and economic aspects of medicine and higher education, pedagogy and new technology education.conduct of Accommodation

Accommodation for the foreign students is provided by student hostels rated at 2,422 lodgers. In order to live at a hostel, the students must conclude a proper contract. This accommodation is available for the whole period of training. Hostel fees depend upon the size and comfort of the dwelling space.

The University Scientific-Practical Medical Centre provides medical care of students. The students regularly undergo prophylactic medical and photofluorographic examinations.

The students have meals at 2 canteens for 160 clients and 6 refreshment bars for 80 clients.

The students are provided with facilities for going in for sports. The University has 3 gymnasia (for games, gymnastics and heavy athletics).
